Aquaphor | Gift Basket + $100

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Aquaphor.

Aquaphor is something that we used daily in this house from the time the triplets were born until I squeezed the last bit out of the last tube a few months ago.  My favorite use for it is on my feet, I slather it on after a shower, slip on some socks + it really helps to soften them.

BlogHer gave me the chance to revisit my love for Aquaphor ointment, as well as test out a new product...their all in one gentle shampoo and body wash.  It has a clean scent and makes bathtime at our house a little bit easier with only one bottle to have to grab.

They also gave me the opportunity to giveaway a $100 Visa gift card, plus an Aquaphor gift basket valued at $118.38, to one of my very lucky readers!

Five for Fighting: Slice

Singer/songwriter John Ondrasik has spent the past decade writing deeply personal songs that include social messages, invoke the human spirit and make an emotional connection. This can be heard on the past five albums by Five For Fighting, the band name under which he records and performs.

On October 13th, Five for Fighting delivers their newest album, Slice.

Five For Fighting’s breakthrough came in 2001 with the Grammy Nominated song“Superman”, from the Platinum certified “America Town”.  The song was climbing the charts upon release, and when 9/11 happened, it became a song of healing for the nation.  FFF performed the song at the post 9/11 fundraiser The Concert for New York which paid tribute to all the firefighters, police officers & paramedics affected by the events of 9/11.

On the 2004 release, “The Battle For Everything”, the song “100 Years” followed in the footsteps of “Superman” as yet another inspiring reflective song.

Did you know…
  • In Feb 2007 John launched a charity driven website – whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com that raises money for various charities when users view video clips provided by visitors to the site.  Current views are over 3 million with approx. $300,000 donated!

Eileen Goudge: Once in a Blue Moon Review

New York Times bestselling author, Eileen Goudge just released her newest novel, Once in a Blue Moon.  Though it was a quick read, I did enjoy it + thought that it really captured the unique connections that exist between siblings.  Even two sisters who have not seen each other in years.  Life treated each of the sisters quite differently, but in the end they were able to develop a beautiful relationship that surprised them both.

It is a story of redemption + fresh starts.

Sisters Lindsay and Kerrie Ann have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls’ mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care.

Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister. The owner of a bookstore in the sleepy California seaside town of Blue Moon Bay, she was lucky enough to have been adopted by a loving couple. Unbeknownst to her, Kerrie Ann has suffered a very different life. Bounced from one foster home to the next, she ran away as a teenager before becoming a drug-addicted single mother. Now, newly sober, Kerrie Ann is fighting to regain custody of the little girl who was taken from her.

Neither sister’s expectations are met when they’re finally reunited. But as the two sisters engage in the fiercest battles of their lives, they are at last drawn together despite their differences, restoring belief in the unshakable bond of family.

Lands' End FeelGood Donations

Lands' End Logo

I am so excited to spread the word about the Lands' End FeelGood Campaign.  This initiative is a terrific way to shop and feel good about giving to homeless individuals and families across the country.  For every Lands' End FeelGood sweater purchased, the company will donate signature FeelGood yarn to One Heart Foundation's Warming Families, a nationwide knitting charity.  Lands' End expects to donate thousands of pounds of yarn to the charity where volunteers plan to knit up to 25,000 hats and other items to warm the homeless and displaced.
